statement & gallery hours

well, i suppose it's time for a show statement. so here it goes...

Clean & Dainty

Ladies are taught how to act, told how to look and taken in as objects, sitting pretty in their perfectly polite bodies.

Through the use of decorative objects, Clean & Dainty expresses the rules, by which women are told to abide and the sensuality and humanness of the bodies these rules seek to control.

An abstracted and subtly impolite female nude is exposed within the turns of the blushing poplar pedestals, solely crafted to display lace doilies. These needle lace pieces have been painstakingly stitched with words of etiquette, embedded into the repetition. Fleshy silk drapes the gallery walls evoking a dreamy sensuality, while still ingrained with instructions: rules every girl must live by in order to become polite young ladies/undisruptive females/decorative objects.
